Four-Ohhh Yeah

Well, Today's the day. Goodbye 30's.

There's been a lot of learning in two scores. Most importantly, I've learned that life is wasted by hiding out. I was shy for a significant portion of my life, afraid to look people in the eye, let alone face life head on. I now realize that confidence breeds confidence. The more honest I am in my failures, foibles and successes, the less I have to lose, and everything to gain. Honesty helps me risk since there's nothing left to fear.

I've finally figured out that I've got a pretty good life and it's worth telling people about it. What people think about it matters somewhat but not enough to stop me. There's too much time to lose thinking about negative things. There's so much to do, so many people to love and care for, I can't waste the moments of my life in self pity or regret. Life is a blessing, a great thing and it's my job to live to the fullest of my potential.

My favorite validation is "Everything I need is inside myself. Perfect wisdom is in my heart." I hope to use my wisdom in the next 40 years to move beyond my comfort zone and take the path of adventure. Now that I'm on solid footing, I'm ready to take it to the next level.

Blogging has been a great experience in openness and honesty. I've met so many great people and learned from each one of you. I appreciate all your wisdom and support.

Cheers!

Happy birthday, Polikat. I try not to look back because it pains me to see how stooopid I used to be.

Happy Birthday Writer Kat! I've really enjoyed our bloggish relationship. You sound like you're taking the big 40 very well. If it's any consolation, I think you're a spring chicken.

Thanks! Yes, a lot of embarrassing moments in the past, surely more to come. I don't feel like a spring chicken. More likely someone ready for the pasture. ;-)

Happy Birthday. So sorry it's late. Your 40's will be great, but your 50's will be spectacular. You're entering the best times of your life.

You don't look a day older.
Wait, you didn't change your avatar yet.
:-)

I agree it's nice. Seriously. I went through some "angst" for the first 6 months, but now I feel great! I love where I am. WOuldn't go back for anything (except a hunky guy here and there)

Happy Birthday!!!

AW - That's what I'm hoping. :-) DH is turning 50 next week so if we don't keel over, we're ready for fun!

Chris - Yes, that avatar is from my infant years in 2006, I guess it's time for a change.

Well, happy birthday. I had a milestone too . . . I got a high school diploma last week, 35 years after dropping out.

What will you do to revel in your fortyhood?

WriterKat said...

Thanks, John. And Congratulations to you! That is wonderful.

I am reveling in my 40's by finally writing a whole project, whether it is meaningless & non sensical or not. I plan to have 52,000 words by December and then use next year to shape it into something useful. (kind of like nanowrite mo only for a year since I'm slow) I'm about 1/2 way there.

HIPY PAPY BTHUTHDTH THUTHDA BTHUTHDY.

Welcome to the ranks of the 40s. 40 is the new 30. If 40 is the new 30, then 12 is the new 2. As I like to tell my 12 year old when he's acting like a crybaby.
