3WW - writer prompt - deny.smile.uncomfortable

3WW - Check it out. Thanks to Bone for another great week..

Note - these 2 entries have nothing to do with each other.

Hub:
I try to resist her, but her smile is too much for me. She has eyes that know me and can see right through me — I knew I was a
Goner. It wasn’t uncomfortable at all... It was that the longer I was around her, I lost all ability to resist her So, I never tried to deny it. On the contrary, I let myself fall into the deep end of the pool.

Me:
As she stepped onto the stage, she would reveal nothing but her smile. She had planned to win, and lost by a margin. Still, it was uncomfortable, the heart breaking defeat that she now had to face in her supporter's eyes. No one could deny her hard work or commitment to the job, but obviously, it was not enough.

Topical! Seriously, great use of the prompt words to bring that photo back into my head.

Something I should probably not reveal: I did not have Hillary on my mind when I read the first sentence. And for some reason, that first sentence appeared to me (on first read) thus: "As she stepped onto the stage, she would wear nothing but her smile." And that is never how I perceived the Senator from New York.

Seriously I hope there's an opening (Republican) on the Supreme Court and she becomes a Justice--think she would be incredible

Wonderful use of the words. I too didn't know in the first sentence

I can't imagine how difficult it was for her

Sadly it is often not enough - the secret is to be graceful in defeat.
We'll see :-)

Grace in defeat - yes.

I got the feeling "defeat" is not on her mind right now.

thrz nothin like a smile to see a person's identity... a smile to jump into.. awesome.. watchin hillary unfold has been one of the most interesting experiences... always uptight.. to actually see her voice crack now that was worthy of the wait... if not for those awful pant suits... i wonder if she watches sex and the city.. she might get a few tips on clothes.. can only imagine her shoes! ...brains absolutely but thrs nothing like a great dress to smooth out the wrinkles...
