Holiday Flash Fiction Carnival:
by BunnyGirl
Submit anytime between now and December 21....
She says:
"I'll be hosting a Holiday Flash Fiction Carnival, starting December 21. Anyone who wants to join is welcome."
Check out her blog for more details: http://ampfiction2.blogspot.com/
Requirements are minimal:
* Must be 1500 words or less, 1000 or less preferred.
* Must have a December holiday or New Year's as a theme. I expect Christmas and Hanukkah to get the most representation, but Winter Solstice, Kwanzaa, ancient Mithraic rites, or even a respectful Bah Humbug are fine.
* Must be fiction (duh).
* Can be old or new, posted on your blog or someone else's, or even published in a zine somewhere, so long as it's linkable.
Any other questions? Just ask!

Hey, there!
To answer your question on my blog, flash fiction is sometimes called a short-short story. It's supposed to follow a proper story arc while remaining within a defined word count.
People define the correct word count in a number of ways and most of the AW flash fiction carnivals use 1,000 as the upper limit. I went with 1,500 because hey, it's a happy time of year and we don't want to stress ourselves out too much.
In that vein, I'm also accepting some Thursday Thirteens, and if someone wants to submit scenes or outtakes I would take those, too, if they met the theme and word count criteria.
But to be considered true flash fiction, it should be a short story. There's a nice list of criteria at this person's blog: http://diaryofaliteraryfictioneditor.blogspot.com/2007/12/mining-flash-fiction-slush-pile.html
If you need examples, I've got a lot of flash on my blog, which you can read by following the tags.
I hope you'll submit something to this carnival! Writing "short" isn't for everyone, but it's a great exercise that really teaches one to make every word count.
Let's try that link again: here
Thanks for the link, Writerkat!! I will check it out!
